With its history tracing back to 1884, the Philadelphia University was then known as the Philadelphia Textile School, and later as Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. A private university, it has the accreditation of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The campus, spread over an area of 100 acres, is located merely 15 minutes from the northwest of Philadelphia City Center. It became the Philadelphia University only in 1999, when it was granted the University status by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Today, it is among the well known Universities of US, known for its commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, as well as more than 50 areas of course work.
The Philadelphia University campus has some important landmarks, with some of the popular ones being the Kanbar Campus Center, the Athletic and Recreation Center, the Tuttleman Center, the Philadelphia University Research Center and the Design Center. There are six schools within the campus, namely, Business Administration, Architecture, Design and Media, Science and Health, Liberal Arts and Engineering and Textiles. Students can choose to stay either within the range of options within the campus, or in town homes in off-campus sites. While the entire campus is well connected, the recreation centers and clubs add to the social life. The Philadelphia University also offers the option of Continuing & Professional Studies, the latter offering you to complete your studies for those professional who are working. There are also several non-credit personal enrichment courses, seminars or conferences and certificate programs, among others.
Depending on your need and the eligibility criteria, there are several loans and assistantships. With a diverse and lively culture to its credit, with students from all over United States and beyond. While students have the option of either full time or part time study, the classes usually comprise of a strength of not more than 18 students per class. While the main campus is located in Philadelphia, there is another campus center in Bucks County.
