LeTourneau University and Online Degrees



LeTourneau University is a private University located in Texas and does not belong to any particular denominational Christian groups. It offers courses on engineering, aeronautical science, business and education. There are business and educational programs specially designed for working adults which are conducted in educational centers around Texas. This university was founded by R.G. LeTourneau with his wife Evelyn in the February of 1946 and was formerly known as the LeTourneau Technical Institute. Its original purpose was to conduct courses for veterans returning from World War II. It became so popular that its degrees became nationally recognized and is ranked in “America’s Best Colleges” by US News and World Report. Enrollment of students has crossed over 4000 and continues to enjoy the fruits of building a good repute.

The LeTourneau University is located in Longview, Texas and is just a two hour drive from Dallas. Most of the students live on the university campus. LeTourneau is located in the middle of the highest poverty and lowest income area. The chapel services are held thrice a week and students are expected to attend a minimum of thirty eight to seventy services held in semester. The entire campus of the university is internet enabled and uses wireless communication in all academic buildings. The students of the LeTourneau University have a distinctive personality from other universities and are hugely influenced by its technological concentrations and majority male population. Apart from studies, the university takes part in wide variety of inter college sports such as the American Southwest conference. Both the male and female teams are present for sports like soccer, basketball, golf, tennis and are very competitive. The university follows a floor system which functions similar to housing segregation. Students normally stay in the same floor till graduation and moving to join another floor is rare.

The university has many Greek Societies on the campus such as the Greek Honor Societies. The university owned societies are formed from donations made by alumni and friends. Many of the foundations are formed by students and have their own student elected body known as the Student Senate. The Yellowjacket Activities Council (YAC) is responsible for organizing activities related to student’s life such as concerts, coffeehouses, athletic competitions, off-campus events, midnight festivals, movie nights, paintball, and Valentine parties. The home-coming weekend after the fall holiday is celebrated with a talent show with the student body, faculty and staff all participating in the show.
